One of the first few lessons I learned in class was to do the basic polish change and manicure. I was actually a model for the instructor. That helped me tremendously. I got to witness the first hand steps of the basic manicure. Up until I got to school I probably had 5 or 6 manicures in my life. Guys just don't get that many manicures unless they has an ultra posh job that their nails would have to look good for. Here's one of the students setting up for a basic manicure.
For me since I had never done polish changes I used a piece of paper with about 50 nails on it and just polished the paper over and over and over. It helped me me with a steady hand to polish down the center and then down the sides of nail. I did this for a few day and did quite a few polish changes of my mannequin hand.
